Traffic stop leads to HAZMAT investigation News June 3, 2020June 2, 20200 Photos courtesy of the Harney County Sheriff’s Office On Sunday, May 31, the Harney County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Oregon State Police with a traffic stop on Highway 20 and Hotchkiss Lane. During the stop, the officers were exposed to a hazardous, white, powdery substance and transported to the hospital. They are expected to make a full recovery. The incident remains under investigation, and further details will be released at a later time. The Burns Fire Department, Hines Fire Department, Burns Police, Hines Police, Bureau of Land Management ranger, and local and regional HAZMAT teams assisted with the investigation.
