Vicki Diane Sams, 54, passed away March 29, with her family by her side.

Vicki was born Aug. 23, 1965, in Arizona, and was adopted by her loving parents, Don and Mary Hines.  She was raised in Arizona, but the family also lived in Alaska for a while during her childhood, due to Don’s job as a lineman.  Vicki graduated from Gilbert High School in 1983 and went to work.

Throughout her life, Vicki worked at a variety of jobs to support her forever growing family, including managing a shoe store, working swing shift at the mill, driving commercially, building fences for the Bureau of Land Management, and most recently, working as a cashier. No matter where she worked, you could count on her to be one of the hardest workers you could find. Even as her last days were upon her, she was working very hard to make sure her husband and kids would be OK once she finally decided to rest.

Vicki is survived by her husband, Tom; children, Tim Sams, Brad Sams, Tanya Smith (Toby), Danny Sams (Emily), Taija Sams (Reggie), and Victoria Sams (Mitchell); and nine grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Ronnie Hines (Sandy); and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Donna; father, Don; and mother, Mary.

There will be a private family memorial this summer, per Vicki’s wishes.
