Reta Marlene Herrera 1949-2020 Obituary February 12, 2020February 12, 20200 Reta Marlene Herrera passed away Jan. 3 at her home in Burns, with her family at her side. Reta was born Dec. 15, 1949, in Enterprise. Reta was a long time resident of Burns. She moved to Burns from Enterprise when she was five years old and graduated from Burns Union High School in 1968. Reta graduated from Western Business University in 1969. Reta was well known in the community as she worked at Pioneer Bank (now Umpqua Bank) for several years until her retirement. She volunteered her time to support the Harney County 4-H livestock sale at the Harney County Fair for several years. Reta and her husband, Ed, were the Grand Marshals of the Harney County Fair, Rodeo and Race meet in 2016, an honor that she cherished. Reta is survived by her husband, Ed Herrera; sons, Eric Herrera (Christine), Philip Herrera (Lavonne), and Bradley Herrera (Amber); sister, Sue Owens (Curtis); brother, Gary Bradly (Cindy); brother-in-law, Aurelio Herrera (Barbara); sisters-in-law, Marge Alvarado, Josie Rez (Rupert), Rita Quintero (Tony), and Lupe Farley (William); nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Reta was preceded in death by her father, Edward Bradley; mother, Roberta Bradley; grandparents, Charles and Joy Bradley, and Elmer and Bessie Southwick; nephew, Terry Dial; brother-in-law, Manual Alvarado; and nephew, Matt Alvarado. Contributions in her memory may be made to CAN Cancer of Harney County. At her request, there will be no services. LaFollette’s Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
