The Burns boys basketball team evened its Eastern Oregon League record at 4-4 with a pair of victories Friday and Saturday, Feb. 7-8, at Burns High School.

Burns opened up the weekend of hoops with a convincing 77-38 win over Irrigon (0-8) on Friday.

The Hilanders got rolling early, taking a 26-1 first-quarter lead, and up 48-13 at halftime.

The Hilanders outscored the Knights 14-12 in the third period before wrapping up the victory.

Truston Snapp led the Hilanders’ offense, scoring 30 points. Dakota Ceja finished with 15, and Michael Purcella 14

The following night, the Hilanders leap-frogged over Riverside (3-5) in the league standings with a 51-43 victory.

The Hilanders are tied for third in the EOL standings with Vale. Nyssa leads the league with an 8-0 record, followed by Umatilla at 5-3.

The Hilanders wrap up league play this weekend by hosting Nyssa Friday, Feb. 14, then traveling to Vale on Saturday, Feb. 15.
