Hilanders even record with wins over La Pine, G.U.

The Hilanders evened their season record at 4-4 with a 57-42 victory over La Pine in nonconference boys basketball action on Friday, Dec. 20.

The Burns boys basketball team bounced back from a four-point halftime deficit for a 73-57 victory over Grant Union on Thursday, Dec. 19, at Burns High School.

The teams were deadlocked at 18-18 after the first eight minutes of action, and the Prospectors outscored Burns 17-13 in the second quarter to go up 35-31 at the break.

Burns got their offense rolling in the second half, taking a 53-49 lead at the end of the third quarter, and finishing the game on a 20-8 run.

Dakota Ceja dropped in 26 points for the Hilanders, DJ Hoke finished with 16, and Truston Snapp 12.

The Baker Bulldogs evened their season record at 3-3 with a 59-47 nonconference win over Burns in boys basketball action on Tuesday, Dec. 17.

The Hilanders led 5-2 in the opening minutes of the contest, but Baker then went on a 13-0 run to take a lead it would never relinquish. Baker was up 19-10 after the first quarter, and led 36-22 at halftime.

The teams traded baskets throughout the second half, with Baker maintaining a double-digit lead until the final buzzer.

DJ Hoke and Dakota Ceja led Burns with 13 points each, and Truston Snapp added 11.

Baker’s Caden Long led all scorers with 19 points, and Gabe Gambleton finished with 16.
