Pauline Alexander Thomas 1923-2019 Obituary November 27, 2019November 27, 20190 Pauline Alexander Thomas passed away Nov. 21. Pauline was born Dec. 12, 1923, at Pine Creek, Modoc County, Calif., to William Henry Alexander and Mary Longwill Alexander, the youngest of three children. They lived in Davis Creek, Calif., until Pauline was 10 years old when they moved to Klamath Falls. Her dad, being a logger, took a job with Weyerhaeuser Timber Company. Pauline graduated from the eighth grade at Roosevelt School, Klamath Falls, and from Klamath Union High School in 1942. On April 3, 1942, she married Willie Romaine Thomas, and on Feb. 8, 1943, they had a daughter, Barbara Kay. Willie was called Rhody, and on April 14, 1943, he was called into the service and was eventually sent to New Guinea with the United States Army 3rd Rainbow Infantry Division. He was in the Philippine Campaign at Leyte Island and was killed in action on Nov. 27, 1944. He is buried in Klamath Memorial Park in Klamath Falls. On July 14, 1946, Pauline married Clarence Stanley Thomas. On March 1, 1954, they moved to a ranch on the west side of Lakeview. They were members of the First Baptist Church in Lakeview since 1957. Stanley passed away in January 1994 and is buried in Klamath Memorial Park in Klamath Falls. Pauline stayed on the ranch until 1996 when she moved into Lakeview and lived in the Western Villa Mobile Home Park. On Feb. 2, 2014, she moved to the East Cascade Retirement Center in Madras, to be near her daughter and her husband, Bonnie and Buck Grote. In October 2016, she moved to Crane, to be near her son and wife, Ken and Paula Thomas. She resided in Crane, living with her granddaughter and husband, Dally and Mathieu Zander and family, until her passing. Pauline is survived by four children, Bill (Shirley) Thomas of Post Falls, Idaho, Barbara Davis of Medford, Bonnie (Buck) Grote of Madras, and Ken (Paula) Thomas of Crane; grandsons, Tony and Tom Davis, Lee and Shane Thomas, Denny and Casey Thomas, Ryan and Reed Grote; granddaughters, Brenda Davis, Dally Zander, and Rebecca Loman; 26 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Rhody and Stanley; parents; brother, Robert; and sister, Roberta. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the First Baptist Church in Lakeview.
