Doris A. Snell, 96, passed away Nov. 18 at Friendsview Manor in Newberg.

Doris was born in March 1922 in Leoti, Kan., to Pliny B. and Mabel Stiles. She attended country schools in her elementary years and graduated from Wichita County High School in 1940. Shortly thereafter, she traveled to Harney County where one of her sisters and a brother-in-law were living.

She found work at various businesses in Burns and in 1942, she was hired by Edward Hines Lumber Company to work in the accounting department. She remained there for 20 years, retiring in 1962 because of health problems.

She met her love and best friend, Robert Snell, and they were married in September 1961.

Doris was a member of the Harney County Church of the Nazarene during her residence in Burns.

She moved to Friendsview Manor in 1993, and resided there until her death.

Doris is survived by her sisters, Eunice Bundy, Shirley Jacobson; and brother, Vern Stiles and wife, Dorothy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; sisters, Juanita Smith, Melba Hobson, and Mae Finch; and brother, Preston Stiles.

A graveside service was held Nov. 27 in the Burns Cemetery.
