(Submitted photos) The Burns cross country teams both placed first at the Outback Invitational on Friday, Sept. 28, at North Lake High School. The Burns boys team grabbed the team title with 18 points as the Hilanders had the top four finishers in the 5K race. Emmett Klus won the individual title with a time of 17:44.0, followed by JP Friedrichsen (18:18.0), Calvin Bates (18:19.9), and Ryan Robles (18:24.3) in the top four. Masson Shaw finished in eighth place (19:22.2) for the Hilanders. Tom Boyd placed 12th (20:12.4), Spencer Johnson 15th (20:53.0), Mason Wulff 26th (21:46.0), Will Keady 37th (24:52.0), Chris Boyd 38th (26:05.4), Mason Radinovich 39th (26:05.9), and Cody White 42nd (27:19.0). Lakeview placed second in the team standings with a score of 52, followed by La Pine with 69, and North Lake 95. ••• There were only two complete teams in the girls 5K race, with Burns winning with a score of 22, and Lakeview finishing second with 36. The Hilanders’ Alicyn Hoke took first in the girls race with a time of 21:47.2. Sayge Root was second (22:21.6), Sarah Letham finished fourth (22:54.2), Avery Gunderson eighth (23:43.2), Olivia Winn ninth (23:51.1), Annabelle Johnson 10th (25:02.8), Lucy Baron 12th (27:13.8), Lily Taylor 16th (30:16.8), and Robin Holtby 18th (39:00.2). The Hilanders will compete in the Crosby Invitational in Ontario on Thursday, Oct 4, and will host their only home meet of the season at Idlewild on Saturday, Oct. 13. Races start at 10:30 a.m.
