Raymond Lyle Tiller 1932-2018 Obituary August 22, 2018August 23, 20180 Raymond Lyle Tiller passed away peacefully Aug. 13 at his home in Burns. Raymond was born Jan. 20, 1932, in Nyssa to William and Hollis Tiller. He was the second of six children. His parents moved quite often in search of gold in Nevada and Dixie Creek near John Day, to the shipyards in California, to Harney County where he drove truck for John Wooster and Harry Grimsley. He also drove log truck for many different people. He also drove long haul from Oregon to New York City for Reser’s Fine Foods. Raymond attended school in Nevada, Prairie City, and Burns. He joined the U.S. Navy and later, the U.S. Army, and was shortly discharged for medical reasons. Raymond met and married Vina Persinger. They enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, wood cutting, and riding 4-wheelers. Raymond is survived by his wife, Vina; daughter, Doris; brother, Ron Tiller; sister, Janice Case; one granddaughter; two grandsons; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roger and Bob; and sister, Joyce Cronin. A service for Raymond Tiller will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at the LIFE (Foursquare) Church in Burns, with a potluck to follow.
