High Desert Biomass Cooperative will be holding a community meeting for Burns and Hines residents from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at the Harney County Community Center.

The meeting will be to discuss the expansion of the heating district in Burns and the possibility of expansion in Hines.

This is the first phase of a feasibility study being done through a grant with the Oregon Department of Forestry.

A PowerPoint presentation will be given by Andrew Haden of Wisewood Energy, outlining the work that has been done, as well as showcasing the unique biomass boiler that is the first of its kind in the U.S.

A tour of the existing heating district and the boiler itself will be offered.
