David E. Judy 1949-2017 Obituary November 8, 2017November 9, 20170 David E. Judy, 67, passed away Sept. 14 at St. Charles Hospital in Bend from complications of kidney disease (ESRD) and lung cancer. David was born Dec. 1, 1949, in Burns, at the old hospital, to Frenchy and Thelma (Erickson) Judy. He was a 1968 graduate of Burns Union High School. He went to work, as many did, at Edward Hines Lumber Company in the sawmill division. He also worked for H & H logging as a skidder operator for many years. In 1985, David moved to Bend where he went to work for Bend Mill Works until 1995. In 1998, he graduated with an associate degree as an automotive technician from Central Oregon Community College. He then worked for Mac’s Radiators in Bend until his retirement in 2013. David truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; he loved playing music with his longtime friends while he lived in Burns. After he moved to Bend, you could always find him out in the garage working on his own, his family’s, or his friends’ cars and trucks. He spent many years restoring his prize 1951 Ford pickup. David is survived by his brother, Jim Judy; wife, Karla (Zapf) Judy; son, David Runnels and his wife, Shanna (Dobson) Runnels; grandson, Keynan; and granddaughter, Danye. His grandchildren meant the world to him, and he truly loved spending time with them when they visited. Family, friends, and others whose lives David touched that would like to donate in memory of David can do so at the National Kidney Foundation website, https://www.kidney.org/support. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks for the wonderful help and care given by Dr. Robert V. Pinnick, his colleagues and staff at Bend Memorial Clinic’s Nephrology Department.
