Burns DMV to close June 21-30 for repairs News June 14, 2017June 15, 20170 Completing work started in May to meet accessibility standards The Burns DMV office will close from Wednesday, June 21, through Friday, June 30, to complete upgrades to meet federal accessibility standards. The office will reopen Monday, July 3, and like all DMV offices will be closed Tuesday, July 4, for the Independence Day holiday. The Burns office also will adjust its midday closure time by a half an hour to make it easier for customers to obtain services during their lunch breaks. Starting July 3, Burns DMV will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with a midday closure from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. If you need to visit DMV in person during the temporary closure, DMV recommends the John Day office, which will have extra staffing during the Burns office closure. The John Day office is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, closing for lunch from 12:30 to 2 p.m. To minimize the Burns closure’s impact on residents, local DMV staff arranged for Driver Manuals to be available at the high school. Commonly used DMV forms will be available at Burns City Hall and the Harney County Library. ODOT recently completed ADA building assessments and identified the Burns DMV office as needing a public restroom and entry ramp to meet federal standards. This is the first major upgrade to the building since DMV opened in 1979 at 252 S. Date Avenue.
