The Burns boys and girls track teams both placed first at the Grant Union Small Schools Meet on Tuesday, April 4, in John Day.

The Crane teams also competed in the meet, with the boys finishing fourth and the girls placing seventh among the 12 teams competing.

The Burns girls won with a team score of 178, followed by Grant Union with 150, Nyssa 93.5, Monument 59, Mitchell-Spray 49, Condon/Wheeler 24, Crane 17.5, Dayville 10, Prairie City 7, Burnt River 5, and Heppner 3.

In the boys meet, the Hilanders grabbed the top spot with 195 points, easily out-distancing second-place Heppner with 103 points. Nyssa was third with 84 points, followed by Crane with 61, Grant Union 47, Condon/Wheeler 42, Mitchell-Spray 41, Monument 34, Long Creek 18, Prairie City 12, Burnt River 6, and Dayville 3.

The Burns girls track team placed second and the Hilander boys team finished fifth at the Probst Walker meet in Emmett, Idaho, on Friday, April 7.

Nyssa won the girls meet with 102 points, followed by Burns with 82, Weiser, Idaho 79, Caldwell, Idaho 71, Mountain Home, Idaho 54, Vallivue (Caldwell) 52.5, Emmett 34.5, Ridgevue (Nampa, Idaho) 34, Vale 29, Parma, Idaho 29, Fruitland, Idaho 27.5, Middleton, Idaho 25.5, Cascade, Idaho 22.5, McCall-Donnelly, Idaho 20.5.

The boys team title went to Weiser with 99 points. Ridgevue was seond with 80.42 points, folowed by Emmett 73.84, Mountain Home 69.5, Burns 60.5, Caldwell 53.92, Fruitland 46.84, Vallivue 46.5, Middleton 46, McCall-Donnelly 29, Nyssa 18.42, Cascade 13.5, Parma 12, Meadows Valley (New Meadows, Idaho) 9, Vale 4.5.

The Crane Mustangs track and field teams competed in the Prairie City Invitational in Prairie City on Saturday, April 8.

The Crane girls placed seventh with 16.5 points, and the boys placed fourth with 72 points.

For the girls teams, Lakeview placed first with 146 points, Baker placed second with 115 points, followed by Grant Union 110 points, Adrian 84.5. Monument 56.5, Prairie City 17, Crane 16.5, Powder Valley 10, Dayville 8, Huntington 6, Burnt River 2, Harper 1.5.

On the boys side, Baker took first with 149, followed distantly by Lakeview with 96, Adrian 80, Crane 72, Powder Valley 62, Monument 41, Grant Union 36, Harper 21, Long Creek 20, Prairie City 15, Dayville 8, Burnt River 6.
