The Hines Middle School (HMS) wrestling team placed fourth and the Crane Middle School (CMS) wrestlers finished 10th at the Central Oregon Middle School State Qualifier held Saturday, March 4, at Mountain View High School in Bend. A total of 20 teams competed in the tournament.

The Scotties had eight of their nine wrestlers qualify for the state competition, while all three of the Mustangs qualified for state.

The top four wrestlers from each weight class qualify for the state meet to be held Saturday, March 11, in Woodburn.

Cody King (110) and Garrett Goss (150) both had first-place finishes for HMS, and Wyatt Epling of Crane won the 132-pound weight class.

The Scotties’ Carter Lardy (75) and Corbett Graham (80) both placed second, Justin Winn (95) and Kevin Peasley (102) finished third, and Ethan Peasley (75) and Dalton Puckett (160) came in fourth.

Crane’s Jack Roath (80) and Levi Epling (102) each placed fourth.

Lacreole Middle School won the team title with 191.5 points, followed by Crook County MS with 185, Culver MS 173, HMS 162.5, Sky View MS 157, Elton Gregory MS 156.5, Obsidian MS 133.5, Three Rivers MS 83.5, La Pine MS 62, and Crane 55.5 in the top 10.
