National Geographic Channel to feature Harney County archaeological site News March 1, 2017March 1, 20170 The National Geographic Channel will be airing a special at 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time Monday, March 6, that features an archaeological site in Harney County. The site has been excavated for the last five years by Burns District Bureau of Land Management in a partnership with the University of Oregon archaeological field school. The site has evidence of human habitation that dates back more than 15,000 years, possibly the oldest in North America. The special is titled: Origins: The Journey of Mankind, Spark of Civilization.
