Vivian Ann (Dee) Drury 1939-2017 Obituary January 25, 2017January 26, 20170 Vivian Ann (Dee) Drury passed away Jan. 14, at the age of 77, after a long illness. She was born Oct. 7, 1939, in Fresno, Calif., to Edmond and Pearline (Nichols) Deiter. She attended grade schools in Colorado and in Burns, graduating in 1957 from Burns High School. After graduation, she joined the Navy and served as a nurse. After being released from the Navy, she worked as a nurse at the McKenzie-Willamette Hospital in Springfield. While working there, she met and married her husband, Brent Drury, in 1962. They had two children, Daren, born in 1968, and Brenda Rae in 1969, who died at birth. She was a member of the Harney County Horsewomen’s Association for many years. She was an emergency room nurse’s aide at the Harney County Hospital for a few years and worked in several other places throughout the Burns-Hines area. She enjoyed reading, sewing, camping, canning, watching baseball, and spending time with her son and her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Brent; son, Daren; grandchildren, Krysten and Justin; Goddaughter, Joy Williams; sister-in-law, Novell Deiter; many nieces and nephews; and sister, Lana Barber. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Jimmy, Ronnie, Eugene, and Dennis; and sister, Karen Kay. A graveside service was held Jan. 21 at the Burns Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Harney County Library. LaFollette’s Chapel was in charge of funeral arrangements.
