Julia L. (Judy) Cowing Thompson 1945-2016 Obituary December 7, 2016December 8, 20160 Julia L. ( Judy) Cowing Thompson passed away Nov. 25 at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend,. She was born March 31, 1945, to Henry and Viola McClure Cowing in Burns. Judy married Wayne Thompson Sept. 3, 1977, in Burns. She was a member of Pettycoats and Jeans Square Dance Club, Rebekahs Lodge, Poison Creek Grange, Harney County Horse Women, and very devoted to the Harney County Pioneer Association. She attended Phagans Beauty College in Bend, which led to her successful business, Highland Hair Fashions, for many years. She was a very caring and thoughtful lady. She loved to dance, play cards, cook and bake, hunt and fish, but the most important was time spent with family. Judy is survived by husband, Wayne Thompson; brother, Clyde Cowing and wife, Teresa; nieces and nephews, Michael Cowing, Tenny Kesau, Rita and Jerry Matteson, Jackie and Sherry Westlake and family, Michael Westlake, Brandie and Joe Wright and family; great-nieces, Kayla Cowing, Karyn Cowing, Kitrina Nelson, and Peyton Westlake; and all her other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Viola Cowing. A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, Dec. 10, at Bible Baptist Church, 101 E. Pettibone Ave., in Hines.
