Quilt and Art Show set for July 8-9 Arts and Entertainment Community June 22, 2016June 22, 20160 The 2016 Quilt and Art Show will take place in Burns from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 8-9. The community meeting room at 484 N. Broadway in Burns is the site for a display of heirloom quilts, the quilt drawing, and the Critter Competition silent auction. Demonstrations and displays of other fiber arts, such as spinning and weaving, are also being planned. This year’s quilt and pillow for the drawing were made by the Sage Country Material Girls as a fundraiser for the Arts & Crafts Association. The delightfully creative quilt/pillow duo features silhouettes of critters found in Harney County. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. The winning ticket will be drawn on Saturday at 4 p.m. Harney County Critters is also the theme of the silent auction. Auction items are made and donated by Arts & Crafts Association members. The silent auction also ends at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Until the Quilt and Art Show, the quilt and pillow are on display at the Harney County Chamber of Commerce, also located at 484 N. Broadway. Raffle tickets may also be purchased there. During the show, art can be found in the stores of participating merchants. Art will also be on display at Gallery 15, located at 76 E. Washington Street in Burns. In addition to indoor displays, artists will be selling and demonstrating their skills outside the gallery.
