Cheryl Radinovich, a Harney County School District No. 3 employee for 32 years, has been selected by the Oregon School Employees Association (OSEA) as its 2016 Employee of the Year.

“Cheryl exemplifies the best attributes of our members,” said Tim Stoelb, president of OSEA, a union representing 21,000 education professionals throughout Oregon. “Her years of selfless service and dedication to her school, community and union made her nomination stand out from all of the rest.”

Radinovich, who is the office manager at Burns High School (BHS), was nominated by her supervisor, Principal Brandon Yant, and then selected from a pool of nominees from throughout the state by a committee of past OSEA presidents.

“There are so many things she does to help the students and staff,” Yant wrote in his nomination letter. “She takes it on herself to make our school run as smoothly as possible … she is, in a word, indispensable.”

OSEA’s Employee of the Year is one of the highest honors the union bestows on members.

Radinovich will be honored throughout OSEA’s annual three-day conference, held June 23-25 in Portland. She will be presented with a traveling trophy, a plaque and photo book during the Saturday night awards banquet on June 25.

Radinovich is the third Harney County School District No. 3 employee to receive the OSEA Employee of the Year award. Muriel Wenick received this recognition in 2000, and Monica McCanna was the 2004 recipient. Both Wenick and McCanna attended an assembly held in celebration of Radinovich’s accomplishment on Thursday, May 5 in the BHS gymnasium.
