Vernon E. “Bill” Brock 1935-2016 Obituary April 6, 2016April 6, 20160 Vernon E. “Bill” Brock passed away March 24 at Harney District Hospital. Bill was born Jan. 4, 1935, in Caldwell, Idaho. He spent his early years of schooling in and around Jordan Valley. He served in the military (Army) during the Korean War. After discharge, he returned to Jordan Valley and worked on area ranches. Bill spent most of his life buckarooing on numerous ranches in Idaho, Oregon, and Nevada. He loved ranch life, working with horses, and was involved with horses most of his life. He did spend some years working as a meat cutter, but always yearned to be in the wide open spaces on horseback. He was a long time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In his retirement years, he spent much time camping out while living in Montana. He and his wife, Eleanor, and other family enjoyed camping in Glacier National Park. Summers would find them traveling to rodeos and horse events selling cowboy tack. He returned to Burns from Montana in 2013. During the last three years of his life in Burns, he was blessed to have a very good friend, Noni Snider, who, in essence, took him as part of her family. Bill is survived by his sons, Robert (Louise) and Jay Brock (Sheila); daughter, Jean Rowels; four grandchildren, three great-grand children; and Janie (mother of his children). He is also survived by his brothers, Charles and Leigh; sisters, Faithe and Linda; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor; sisters, Dorothy and Ann; and son-in-law, Gary Rowles. There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23, at the Assembly of God Church, 821 North 16th Ave, in Caldwell, Idaho.
