Thomas Joseph Lalande passed away Feb. 3. He was born Oct. 10, 1934, in Portland.

He grew up in Spokane, Wash., and also spent time in Burns. Tom enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17, served in Korea, and was honorably discharged after eight years of service. He married Ursula Posch, and they had three children, Renee, Rick and Rod.

Later in life, he met Georgia Spence. They spent 23 years together until his death.

In addition to his children, Tom is survived by his brother, Robert; sisters, Bettie Egland and Lila Tilley; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at Bateman Carrol Funeral Home in Gresham. Interment will follow at 11:30 a.m. in Willamette National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Bateman Carrol Funeral Home, 503-665-2128.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Kaiser Hospice, or to a charity of one’s choice.
