Meeting to discuss expanding Burns’ fiber infrastructure News January 6, 2016January 6, 20160 LSN, an Oregon telecommunications company based in Portland, and owned exclusively by Oregonians, will participate in a Town Hall event in conjunction with the Harney County Economic Development (HCED) office on Thursday, Jan. 28, to discuss expanding fiber infrastructure in Burns. LSN already has a significant network deployed in Harney County, providing data transport, broadband Internet, voice services to education, government, judicial, and healthcare facilities. The goal of the Town Hall is to evaluate the potential increased economic development benefits that broadband availability could have for Harney County. If the community supports it, LSN will explore a program to build additional fiber infrastructure in the area. “Increased fiber infrastructure could provide added incentive to the business recruitment and expansion programs currently in place at Harney County Economic Development,” said HCED Executive Director Randy Fulton. “We see a great opportunity to expand our fiber services and availability throughout Burns, Hines and Harney County,” said LSN Chief Executive Officer Michael Weidman. “We look forward to increasing the presence of affordable, high-quality broadband access to new business and public sector customers in the area. LSN is completing a network augmentation that is capable of providing Harney County with 200Gbps of bandwidth by March 2016 and working with local providers to increase bandwidth speeds for residential use. With this expansion, LSN looks forward to providing seamless network services into local businesses and organizations.”
