Folks needed for natural resources committee

The Harney County Court is requesting letters of interest from people who would like to participate on Harney County’s Natural Resources Advisory Committee (NRAC).

The purpose of NRAC is to advise the Harney County Court on the needs and priorities of our natural resources; provide substantial comments for the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process; and work through implementing Harney County’s land use plan, which was adopted by Ordinance 2018-83.

Committee membership shall not exceed nine members. Members must live in Harney County and constitute a representation of agriculture and livestock production; timber and wood products production; recreation; hunting and fishing; the Eastern Oregon Agricultural Research Center; cultural resources; and advocates for natural resources stewardship through the continuation of the customs, culture, health, safety, and economic stability of Harney County.

The Harney County Court will accept letters of interest through Aug. 5, 2019, at 5 p.m. Please submit letters to the Harney County Court at 450 N. Buena Vista Ave., Burns, Oregon 97720. Letters can also be emailed to mark.owens@co.harney.or.us.

When submitting letters, please identify two areas of interest from the selection above.
