Lorretta May “Pete” (Pedersen) Jacobs 1955-2019

Lorretta May “Pete” (Pedersen) Jacobs of Burns passed away Feb. 12.

Pete was born in Lebanon Aug. 11, 1955, to Melvin and Wilma Pedersen. She was raised in Jefferson, where she graduated from high school in 1973. She lived in the Jefferson/Lebanon area for a few years, then moved to Central Oregon where she tended and managed various bars, including the American Legion and Pastime Tavern in Redmond. After spending about 20 years in Central Oregon, Pete moved to Burns where she managed the bar at the golf course and went back to school and received her CNA license.

In Pete’s spare time, she loved to sew and made many outfits for family and friends. She also made many quilts that were treasured by those who received them. Pete spent a lot of time fishing in various lakes and streams around Oregon, and at Christmas time, she enjoyed decorating her house and entering it in competitions. She always loved being around family and friends.

In the spring of 2000, she had the wonderful privilege of meeting her daughter who she gave up for adoption in 1974. In the summer of 2004, she traveled to Colorado to spend a week with her. They went to a Jimmy Buffet concert in Denver. She loved it and sang along with most of the songs.

Pete is survived by her daughter, Lynnea Arnold; son, Arron Hinderlie; grandchildren, David and Alexandria; siblings, Dianna, Jan, Tiny, Mike, Leland, Marjie, and Tim; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Pedersen; mother, Wilma (Lewis) Pedersen; and brother, Thomas Pedersen.
