Barbara Ann (Benson) Owen 1933-2019

Barbara Ann Owen passed away April 14 of natural causes in Bellevue, Wash.

Barbara was a third-generation Oregonian, born Dec. 17, 1933, in Portland to Clifton Leroy and Anna Margaret (Varien) Benson.

Barbara spent many of her adolescent years living in Burns, and loved riding horses with friends and family. She  graduated from Burns High School in 1952 and stayed in contact with several of her school friends throughout her life. After high school, she moved from Burns and spent more than half of her adult life living in Portland and Eugene.

Barbara loved to knit, collect and listen to music, collect and watch classic movies, and study the Bible. She also loved to fish at Oregon’s Odell and Crescent lakes, as well as the state’s coast.

Barbara spent her final years near family in Bremerton and Bellevue, Wash.

Barbara is survived by her twin brother, Robert Benson; stepbrother, Hal Coe; four sons, Michael, Jeffrey, Steven, and Kent Owen; five grandsons, Jason, Joshua, Logan, Brandon, and Bradley Owen; granddaughter, Jennifer Yost; three great-granddaughters, Havilah Dieterle, Lillian, and Marantha Yost; nephews, Clay and Daniel Benson; and nieces, Susan and Joyce Benson.

Barbara was preceded in death by her biological parents; stepfather, Murl Coe; former husband, Clifford Owen; and daughter, Julie Owen.

She will be interred at the Burns Cemetery at a private service with the family.
