Health department conducts drive-through testing

The Harney County Health Department held its first drive-through COVID-19 testing May 20 at the Harney County Fairgrounds.

Eighteen individuals were tested, and the results were expected back early the following week. All who were tested were advised to self-isolate for 14 days. If the tests come back negative, the individuals may stop their self-quarantine.

Another screening will be held Wednesday, May 27 on the Burns Paiute Reservation for tribal members.

Harney County Health Department and Emergency Management will be holding another free drive-up testing for COVID-19 from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 4, at the Harney County Public Health offices, 420 N. Fairview in Burns.

Testing criteria
Do you live or work in Harney County and have two or more of the following:
• Fever;
• Cough;
• Shortness of breath;
• New loss of taste or smell;
• High-risk factor.

Upon arrival for testing, you are asked to park in front of the building and call 541-573-2271. A staff member will then come out to your vehicle.
