BluTaco, Champs Chicken offer new tastes

When your stomach is growling for a quick, delicious meal, stop into BluTaco/Champs Chicken for something new.

The two restaurants are located side-by-side inside Roots Market at the Shell Station, next to Burns High School.

Offering “Simply Southwest Goodness,” BluTaco’s signature blue corn tortillas, burritos, and southwest bowls can be filled with your choice of shredded beef, pork, or chicken. Add lettuce, cheese, sour cream, chiles, and salsa to your liking, and then top it all off with a warm green chile sauce or three-cheese queso sauce. Rice and beans are also included in the bowls and burritos.

If you’re in the mood for a more traditional taste, order off the Champs Chicken menu for a hearty, healthy taste treat. The menu features a variety of chicken snacks and meals, as well as fish and shrimp.

Order a snack, and get one side dish. A meal includes two side dishes and a biscuit. Choices of side dishes are macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, sweet corn, green beans, potato wedges, and hush puppies.

You can also start your day off with a stop at Champs Chicken, as they offer breakfast sandwiches and biscuits and gravy.

Manager Ronda Masson said the establishment was looking to add a restaurant for some time, and the BluTaco/Champs Chicken combo is a good fit. The restaurants opened about a week before Thanksgiving, and the response has been good, especially the repeat business.

Masson pointed out that the menus provide dietary guidelines for those counting calories, and call-in orders are welcome. Future plans include having a drive-through for easy pick-up as well.

As an added bonus, there are meal specials offered each quarter. For those who want to stay up-to-date on all the deals, you can text Trublu101 or Champs503 to 28748, and the latest information will be sent to your phone.

Champs Chicken opens at 5 a.m. for breakfast, and lunch starts at 10 a.m. for both restaurants. Roots Market is open 24-hours, seven days a week.
