Zane Bailey of Burns and Daniel DeVore of Cove were recently each awarded a $5,000 Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative (OTEC) scholarship to pursue a career as a lineman.

OTEC offers two scholarships each year for high school seniors, adults, or returning college students interested in a career as a lineman.

“I am interested in becoming a lineman because I enjoy working hands-on and being outdoors,” Bailey said.

DeVore said he also wanted a job where he could work outdoors.

“I like working with my hands, and I like a challenge,” DeVore said.

Applications for the scholarship will be available Nov. 1 and can be picked up from a high school guidance counselor, a local OTEC office, or online at OTECC.com.
