Kathleen Norman of Newberg passed away Monday, Jan. 15, at the age of 57. She was born in Portland to Kenneth and Dolores Norman.
She attended Aloha High School and graduated from Newberg High School, where she played varsity softball and basketball. She played college softball and received a bachelor’s degree from Western Oregon College in 1982. She received a master’s degree in health education from Portland State University in 1987.
She started her career in 1982 teaching and coaching middle school students in Burns. She began her public service career in 1995 with the Multnomah County Health Department, where she developed and led a very successful program focused on health education for adolescents and young adults in Multnomah County.
Kathy is survived by her mother, Dolores Norman; her siblings, Don Norman, Guy Norman, Patricia Doucet, and Gary Norman; and nine nieces and nephews.
Her father passed away in 2013.
A celebration of life was held Jan. 21 at Gary Norman’s residence.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Kathy may be made to the Newberg F.I.S.H. Food Pantry.
