Ellibee takes first place in solo competition, BHS band qualifies for state championships

Sam Ellibee, a senior at Burns High School, took first place in the oboe division at the OSAA state solo competition Saturday, April 29, at Pacific University in Forest Grove.

Ellibee scored a total of 930 points from the three judges to finish ahead of the other four competitors. Wesley Becherer of Roseburg placed second with 878 points, and Emma Barbee of Tigard was third with 868 points.

Burns High School (BHS) is proud to announce that the BHS band has qualified for the 2017 OSAA/U.S. Bank/Les Schwab Tires Band and Orchestra State Championships for the first time since 2013! The competition is taking place Wednesday, May 10, at Oregon State University in Corvallis.
