Burns, Crane wrestling teams compete in Woodfin-Robinson duals

The Burns wrestling team kicked off the 2016-17 wrestling season by hosting the Woodfin-Robinson Wrestling Duals on Friday, Dec. 2, at Burns High School.

Schools competing, along with the Hilanders, were Crane, Vale, Baker, and Lakeview.

Baker went undefeated in the duals and took home the championship trophy. Burns placed second, followed by Lakeview, Crane, and Vale.

On Saturday, Dec. 3, Crane and Burns sent wrestlers to compete in the Central Oregon Wrestling Officials Tournament in Bend.

Results for Burns (B) and Crane (C) are as follows:

At 113 pounds, the four wrestlers competed in a pool format, and  Moulton (B) went 2-1 and placed first.

At 120 pounds, a pool format was also used, and Dahl (B) placed fourth with an 0-3 record.

In the bracket at 126 pounds, Johnson (B) went 1-1 and placed fourth.

At 132, Simpson (B) lost his first match, and won his next two to finish fifth.

At 138, Bryant (B) went 0-3 and failed to place.

At 145, H. Gunderson (B) finished 1-1 and placed third.

At 152, Epling lost his first match, received two byes, lost his next match and failed to place. E. Gunderson received a first round bye, won his next match, then lost his next two matches and finished fourth.

At 160, Bailey (B) lost his first match and won his next two to place fifth.

At 182, Van Tassel (B) went 1-2 and placed sixth.

Mountain View took home the team title with 182 points. Crook County was second with 164.5 points, followed by Culver 160, La Pine 125, Burns 85, Bend 75, Summit 74.5, Ridgeview 40, Madras 31, Gilchrist 13, Crane 0.
