Mustang volleyball records two wins

On Friday, Oct. 14, the Crane Mustangs volleyball team beat the Jordan Valley Mustangs in four sets, 25-20, 23-25, 25-15, 25-12.The win came on Jordan Valley’s court.

Claire Hammond was the Mustangs’ top hitter with 19 kills in the match.  Savannah Maupin came in just behind her with 15 kills, and Taylor Crafts had 10.

Crafts led the Mustang team with seven blocks and Grace Lillard added four.

Libero Sadie O’Toole wrangled in 12 digs, Dakota Perkins had six, and Kaylie Thomas brought in four.

In the fourth set alone, Elizabeth Jenkins served for 11 straight points, bringing her serving total to 19.

The next day, the Mustangs faced the Monument/Dayville Tigers in Dayville. The Mustangs  came away with the win in three sets, 25-8, 25-15, 25-9.

Crafts led the Mustangs’ net game with 18 of the teams’ 47 kills, Hammond was close behind with 12, Maupin added 10 kills, and Jenkins had seven. Jenkins was also the lead setter for the night, setting for 28 assists.

Crafts led the defensive game as well, clocking in eight blocks, while Maupin added another four. In the back row, Crafts had 14 digs, O’Toole had 12, Hammond had 10, and Perkins seven.

On Oct. 18, at 5 p.m.,  the Mustangs faced off against the McDermitt  Bulldogs in McDermitt. Scores and stats were unavailable at press time.

On Oct. 22, the Mustangs will compete in  High Desert District Volleyball Tournament in John Day.
