On Tuesday, July 12, the Harney County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon State Police received reports that Jodi Elizabeth Batt had been missing since July 11. Following these reports, Harney County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police began an investigation.

On July 13, at approximately 8 p.m., the body of Batt was found near Bigfoot Reservoir, located approximately 45 miles south of Burns. The Harney County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police conducted an investigation into the death of Batt, and it was determined that Batt died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
