Crane, Burns track teams compete at Baker meet

The Burns and Crane track teams took part in the Baker Invitational on Friday, May 6, in Baker City.

Mckenzi Hoyt led the way for the Hilander girls with a first-place finish in the 1500M. She also finished fifth in the 800M.

The Crane girls failed to place at the meet.

Top eight for Burns (B) and Crane (C):

800M – Hoyt (B) 5th, 2:32.65.

1500M – Hoyt (B) 1st, 5:13.20; Mary Letham (B) 8th, 5:37.40.

3000M – Letham (B) 6th, 12:33.32; Esperansa Ceja (B) 8th, 13:41.70.

Javelin – Nicol Gahley (B) 8th, 102-08.

David Steeves finished first in the high jump to lead the Crane boys.

Daniel Letham and Taylor Klus had second-place finishes in the 3000M and shot put, respectively, for Burns.

400M – Scott Davies (B) 4th, 2:07.17.

1500M – Letham (B) 6th, 4:30.11; Emmett Klus (B) 7th, 4:31.57.

3000M – Letham (B) 2nd, 9:49.88; E. Klus (B) 3rd, 9:55.65.

300M hurdles – Davies (B) 7th, 45.35.

4×400 – Burns (Evan Gunderson, Davies, Brett Friedrichsen, E. Klus) 3rd, 3:41.94; Crane (John O’Toole, Jack Bentz, Bryce Otley, Dustin Ramge) 7th, 3:48.91.

Shot Put – T. Klus (B) 2nd, 43-09; Jake Blackburn (B) 7th, 41-01.

Discus – Blackburn (B) 3rd, 132-02.

Javelin – Miles Maupin (C) 6th, 142-06.

High Jump – Steeves (C) 1st, 6-04.00; Hyrum Paramore (B) 5th, 5-08.00.

Pole Vault – Ramge (C) 6th, 12-00.00; Dallon Higgins (B) 8th, 11-00.00.

Long Jump – JJ Balowski (C) 8th, 19-03.75.

Triple Jump – Paramore (B) 7th, 37-05.00.

Burns will travel to Union on Friday, May 13, for their district meet.

Crane travels to Ontario on the same date for their district meet.
