Betty J. Cook 1932-2016

 

OBIT Cook WEBBetty J. Cook, a longtime resident of Pilot Rock, passed away Feb. 10, surrounded by her family at Willowbrook Terrace in Pendleton. She was 83 years old.

Betty was born in Burns June 27, 1932, to parents Wilbur and Julia (McKennon) Reynolds. She attended first through sixth grade at “The Grange School” on Highway 395, close to the Middle Fork of the John Day River. Betty then continued her schooling in Long Creek, where she graduated from Long Creek High School.

Betty married the love of her life, Jack L. Cook, on July 2, 1950, in Long Creek. The family later moved to Pilot Rock, where they raised three sons, Wayne, Dennis and Kenny. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.  Her family was the most important thing in life.

Betty worked for Kerns Furniture Factory in Pilot Rock, and the Pilot Rock School District, from which she retired.

Betty enjoyed going to yard sales, camping, which her and Jack were members of the Pendleton Eagles Camper Club, and spending vacations and holidays with her family.

Betty is survived by her sons, Wayne (Jeane) of Pilot Rock, and Dennis (Ann) of McNary; sister, Colleen (Jack) Page of Boise, Idaho; sister-in-law, Janet (Dallas) Morris  of Stanfield; and brother-in-law, Gordon (Mary) Cook of Pendleton; seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; son, Kenny; and her parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton Chapel with a luncheon to follow at the Pendleton Eagles Club.  Sign the online condolence book at www.burnsmortuary.com.  Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements.
